The inspiration for Quattro Vault 08
The name for our fund - Vault 08 – was inspired by two related stories about vaults:
Firstly, an important function of a bank vault is to give customers the confidence that their money and valuables are secure. Quattro believes the structure of Vault 08, being a capital guaranteed investment, provides this level of assurance to an investor.
Secondly, Quattro believes the Fund should be structured to withstand market turbulence. There is no better example of a vault’s ability to withstand external pressures than the story of the vaults that assisted with the rebuilding of Hiroshima.
On Monday, August 6, 1945, the nuclear weapon, Little Boy, was dropped on Hiroshima by the crew of the American B-29 bomber Enola Gay. Approximately 90 per cent of the city's buildings were either completely destroyed or severely damaged and a large loss of life was caused by the bomb.
When the atomic bomb was dropped there were four Mosler Safe Company bank vaults in the Teikoku Bank in Hiroshima, Japan which were less than 100 yards from the epicenter of the blast. All four vaults and their contents survived unscathed. These vaults served as the focal point for resurveying the city. Today, the largest vault door in the world is a Mosler vault belonging to the US Federal Reserve.
